More than 60 cows and 17 goats were taken from a man in Khori Jamalpur village in Faridabad on Friday night, the police said. The man and his family claimed that those behind the act were Bajrang Dal.

Police said the complainants in the case, who are from the village, found a cow tied to a tractor. In an attempt to save him, they called the police and filed a complaint to slaughter a cow. “We’ve registered a case,” said one of the officers.

Sohna SHO Santosh Kumar Police Station said he was not aware of the Bajrang Dal. He said there were only complainants and villagers at the place.

According to the villagers, the cows were owned by Ali’s group, and two boys from their family tended them.

Zubair, Ali’s nephew, said, “We were preparing for a wedding in the family on June 30. That night, the two boys came and said that many men were waving swords in our field. We knew they were from Bajrang Dal, so we didn’t go out. In the morning Next, when we reached the field, they took 55 cows, 17 goats and 13 calves in pickup trucks. The guys filed a complaint against us and the FIR was registered at Sohna Police Station.”

Ali and his son along with four others went to see Gurgaon Police Commissioner Kala Ramachandran about the case. CP Ramachandran said, “ACP Sohna is looking into the matter. The owner has not yet provided any proof of ownership.”

Zubair said that cattle were the only source of income for the family and that they did not even own a tractor. “Slaughtering cows is forbidden, but is there a new law that says Muslims cannot own cows now?” Asked.

“They are targeting our business in the name of protecting the cows, and this will only affect our family who are already in poverty. We have never slaughtered cows… Even though we are the aggrieved party, we have a case against us,” said Ali’s other nephew, Yusuf Khan.

Youssef said they filed a complaint, but it has not yet been accepted by the Dog Police Station.

Zubair Zubair further claimed, “Till yesterday, those fools again came and clashed with us and later sought police protection. The police were also on the spot when they took our cattle away, and did nothing despite our repeated pleas.”

Meanwhile, the Faridabad chief Bajrang Dal said that they were informed of an incident of cow slaughter by the villagers and “rescued” more than 50 cows and sent them to Goshala.
