Max Holloway has a storied UFC career, as he is one of only four fighters to ever hold the featherweight title. Blessed recently opened up about his troubled upbringing, stating that his mother was addicted to cocaine.
Talking to Ariel Halawani MMA watchFeatherweight reveal #2:
“I come home, I grab this bandanna—thinking at the time you want to be a ninja, put it on your head or wear it like a cowboy—I take this thing off the shelf, and a weird crack pipe hits the floor. I see it, and I’m like, ‘Holy a** t. What is h**l?” I put it together, like, “Wow.” At first I was like, What is that?”
Holloway continued:
“I put the bandana back on, and one year later, sixth grade was DARE, and I found out that ‘Holy s**t. This is a crack tube. What the hell is going on? ” I did not know.
“It was crazy, but I’ve seen some things that you’re not supposed to see. Like my mom fighting with her siblings and things in front of us when we were kids. For me, that’s normal… There are things that I just feel like I have to put up with, I had to.” To endure, so that I may publish my story later.”

Holloway added that he was raised by his grandparents because his father was not around, and his mother would disappear for days at a time before showing up for his baseball games. He noted that she had been clean for some time after a threat from his brother that she would not be in her grandchildren’s lives if she did not make an effort to change her ways.
Aleksander Volkanowski discusses Max Holloway’s path to the title shot
Aleksander Volkanovski defeated Max Holloway three times to capture the featherweight title. No other featherweight has been “blessed” since Conor McGregor in August 2013.
Speaking to David Adesanya, The Great revealed how the No. 2 ranked featherweight could earn another title opportunity, saying:
“What does he have to do? I don’t know, at the end of the day, anything is possible. It will definitely be his hardest sell to me right now… It’s a tough situation for him. I guess he’s hoping I lose to Yair Rodriguez or something and hopefully I’ll move on.” It’s hard, I don’t know what he should do.”
