After facing an attack from the main opposition AIADMK for allegedly not reversing Karnataka’s move to build the Mekedatu Reservoir on the Cauvery River, the DMK regime on Monday reiterated that it would never allow the neighboring state to build the dam.

State Water Resources Minister Durmurujan said here Tuesday that Karnataka had not released Kufri waters to Tamil Nadu for the month of June as per the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter.

Hence he was visiting Delhi in this regard and urging the Kufri Water Management Authority to direct Karnataka to release water to Tamil Nadu, he said.

He told reporters here that “water should be diverted to Tennessee as directed by the Supreme Court.”

Duraimurugan is scheduled to arrive in Delhi on Tuesday night.
