The BJP headquarters is witnessing frantic activities these days, especially in the evenings, as senior leaders and ministers gather to discuss issues related to the reorganization of the party in several states. On Tuesday evening, BJP President JP Nada and General Secretary (Organization) BL Santhosh held a series of meetings – they met Union Ministers Jajendra Shekhawat and Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Law Ministers Kiren Rigo and SP Singh Bagel. This was followed by a visit by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It was learned that these meetings were related to the next session of parliament in the monsoon season and the party’s position on various issues. With the opposition parties announcing that they will raise issues like Manipur and UCC in the session, the party needs to prepare its defence. The BJP also has to muster the numbers to pass its legislation on the Delhi National Capital Territory (Amendment) Bill, against which the AAP is rallying opposition support.

The Finance Minister, T. V. Sumanathan, was the first to speak at the launch of a book on India’s Finance Ministers and also had the last word.
