Man ‘Urinates’ Near Shivaji Statue, Sparking ‘Disturbance’ in Telangana Town

A man who allegedly urinated near a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji in Gagwell town of Sidipet district was “assaulted and paraded” on the road by a group of people causing “tension” with members of two groups from different communities organizing protests.

Police said Tuesday that one person was injured after he was “attacked” by members of another group following the Monday night incident.

According to the police, a man allegedly “drunk” urinated near the statue on Monday night and some people arrested him and handed him over to the police and filed a complaint.

The man was allegedly assaulted and paraded on the road with slogans by the mob before being handed over to the police.

A video on social media showed a man surrounded by a group of people and later the man pouring water near the spot (where he allegedly urinated).

Later, some of the man’s community attacked and injured one person who was among the people who handed the man over to the police, which led to “turmoil” in the town.

In protest against the incident of the man being “assaulted and paraded”, an appeal was made in the town of Gajoel on Tuesday, and when a procession was organized in an area, a brawl broke out between two groups even as the police intervened and dispersed members of both groups. groups.

The official said further investigations are underway.
