ARAI, a leading vehicle testing and certification agency notified by the Government of India, has prepared the Automotive Industry Standards for Sleeper Buses.

The Maharashtra Department of Motor Vehicles has asked the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to conduct a comprehensive review of the design and safety measures implemented in the sleeping coach buses.

The move came after the horrific tragedy last week on Samruddhi Highway where a sleeping passenger bus caught fire killing 25 passengers.

“We have asked ARAI to re-examine the design of sleeper buses,” said Vivek Bhimanwar, Maharashtra Transport Commissioner.

ARAI, a leading vehicle testing and certification agency notified by the Government of India, has prepared the automotive industry standards for its sleeper coach buses.
