The World Test Championship bruises may still be fresh, but India are poised to get back in action as they begin their preparations ahead of the all-format series against the West Indies.

Ravichandran Ashwin gave a detailed explanation of the same in his recent YouTube video.

“We’ve already reached the shores of the West Indies. We have a 10-day window to shake off jet lag and start our practice. Our current coach, Rahul Bhai, always puts more emphasis on preparation. Our preparation is the process. If we can take care of preparation, the rest will take care of itself. So, that’s it. It’s the thought process.”We’ve really advanced with preparations,” Ashwin said.

The all-rounder bowler was part of the Dindigul Dragons franchise in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, and left to play one day after the WTC final in London ended. “Actually, I was supposed to play 6-7 matches in the TNPL but I had to come a short distance and get here after playing four matches,” said the spinner.

“We came to Barbados. Why did we come here? Because we have our preparation camp here and we will also have a two-day match here before heading to Dominica for the first test.”

Having arrived in Barbados earlier this week, the Indian team and the back room staff took to some beach volleyball.

With the ODI World Cup less than 100 days away from being hosted in India, Rohit Sharma has captained the team in two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is, two of which have to be played in Lauderhill, Florida in the USA.
