The MLA said that there is only one airport in the whole of Manipur i.e. in the capital city Imphal and hence it cannot be a miscalculation that the name of a neighboring airport has been tagged
An MLA from Manipur has urged Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to launch an investigation into an alleged “gross mistake” in printing the name of Imphal Airport in a few tickets on an Air India flight.
In a letter to Scindia, Manipur MLA RK Imo Singh said that it appeared through various social media platforms that few Air India tickets mentioned “ATO office at Imphal, Manipur as Air India, ATO Imphal Airport, Lamka”.
“It is totally unacceptable on Air India’s part to commit such gross error and act of negligence/conspiracy to change the name from Imphal to Lamka on the official ticket,” he said.
The MLA said that there is only one airport in the whole of Manipur i.e. in the capital Imphal and thus it can be no miscalculation that the name of a neighboring airport is tagged.
“I urge you to kindly look into this matter seriously and ensure that the original name of ATO in Air India tickets is corrected and such acts not to be repeated again in future. I also request you to investigate and take appropriate action against Air India officials and any other concerned officials of any organization / Government, in making such amendments by initiating a time-bound investigation and also ensuring that appropriate punishment is inflicted on those involved so that it does not happen again,” the letter said.
However, sources said that the name of Imphal Airport was printed “incorrectly” on a few tickets due to a change in the platform from which the website was hosted.
“When it was discovered, it was rectified immediately,” a source said.
The MLA’s message came amid an image making the rounds on social media showing Imphal Airport as Lamca. One group in Manipur accused it that the site had been hacked by a rival group.
