A 36-year-old store clerk of Indian descent was shot dead during what appears to be an armed robbery case in the US state of Georgia, a media report says, and two juvenile arrests have been made in connection with the murder.

The Augusta Chronicle reported last week that Mandeep Singh, a clerk at a Warrens store, died at the scene after being shot twice on June 28 by two 15-year-olds in Warrens, Georgia.

Singh, an Augusta resident, has been working at the store for less than a month, according to Raines Police Chief John Maynard.

“It appeared to be an armed robbery at first, and at some point, shots were fired, and the employee died,” the report quoted Maynard as saying.

He said that the juveniles were not wearing masks or obscuring their faces during the incident, making it easier to identify and arrest them.

They walked in, and spent maybe five seconds looking at the rack. It was obvious what they had come for.
The Jefferson County Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Singh’s body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab.

“We’re pursuing other leads as to why this might happen,” Maynard said.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up for Singh, who was the only supporter of his mother and wife, to help his family afford expenses, such as funeral costs and ongoing living expenses.

The fundraiser described him as an “authentic soul with an unforgettable personality”, and asked for donations to help Singh’s family deal with his death.
