Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Riggupati has urged Governor RN Ravi to expedite approval of 13 pending bills and give green light to prosecute former AIADMK ministers implicated in allegations of corruption.
In his sweeping letter amid controversies surrounding the arrest of a DMK minister by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over a job scam, Regupathy pointedly pointed out 13 projects and files to prosecute former AIADMK ministers awaiting approval from the governor.
Reminding that all of these bills had been passed by the Legislative Assembly, the letter indicated that there were two bills that had been dormant for more than three years. Drawing on a recent Supreme Court note, Regupathy stressed that conservatives should immediately reject or reinstate bills if they fail to reach agreement, rather than leave them unattended indefinitely. The letter referred to the corruption charges pending against former Health Minister C Vijaya Bhaskar and former Trade Tax Minister PV Ramanna for their alleged involvement in the Gutka scam.
