Police registered a case against seven people, including two women, and arrested six of them in connection with the incident on June 30.
Police said on Wednesday that two Dalit youths were beaten by members of the minority caste on suspicion of molesting and filming some girls in Farkady village of Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh state. Police registered a case against seven people, including two women, and arrested six of them in connection with the incident on 30 June.
It is worth noting that the incident of a man urinating on a young tribal man in Parliament has sparked great anger recently. “A group of minority caste members beat two men, blackened their faces, adorned them with shoes and paraded them in a parade in Farkady village on Friday,” said Dipak Sharma, in charge of Magroni Police Station.
He said the allegations of harassment of the two men were proven false during the investigation. Sharma claimed that the duo only spoke on the phone to some girls in the village and never met them. He said the police had registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Those arrested are: Ajammat Khan, Arif Khan, Shahid Khan, Islam Khan, Chief of Banu Wasina Banu. Sharma added that a search for the arrest of another person is on. The accused alleged that two Dalit men were molesting some girls in the village and discreetly filming them. They also claimed that the alleged act of the two men was recorded on surveillance cameras.
Madhya Pradesh Party president Vishnu Dutt Sharma condemned the incident and questioned whether the Congress was keeping “silence” towards the Congress on the issue due to its “policy of appeasement”. It was alleged that some of the minority members involved in the attack put feces in the mouths of the duo, who belong to the Jataf and Kivat communities.
However, the police neither confirmed nor denied the fecal allegations. A group of Muslims beat up two Dalit youths under a false pretense. They decked out the duo in shoes, paraded them in procession and put feces in their mouths. This is totally inhumane, claimed Vishnu Dutt Sharma, while speaking to reporters in Bhopal. He condemned the incident, and alleged that Congress had remained silent on the issue because of its “policy of appeasement”.
He claimed that “Neither Congress Speaker Kamal Nath nor Rajya Sabha member, Digvijaya Singh, have tweeted anything regarding this issue.”
