Sunil Dabas, Nita Dadoi and Satyawanthi will be coaches for the Indian women’s kabaddi team camp at the Asian Games. This camp will help the coaches form a bond with the players as they adjust their matches ahead of the 19th edition of the Asian Games.
India’s kabaddi team dominated its first two kabaddi tournaments at the Asian Games, winning gold in 2010 and 2014. However, in 2018, Women in Blue fell short of facing Iran in the final. Iran defeated them 27-24 in a close final match to win their first gold medal in the women’s kabaddi tournament at the Asian Games.
The 19th Asian Games will be held later this year. Ashan Kumar, Sanjeev Balian and E Pasakaran have been selected as the coaches for the men’s kabaddi preparation camp, while Sunil Dabas, Neeta Dadoi and Satyawanthi will coach for the women’s camp.
Fans should note that the Indian Kabaddi team coaches for the 2022 Asian Games are yet to be confirmed. The said trio will be concerned with developments in the preparatory camp only.
Sunil Dabbas is a sports scientist and national Kabaddi coach. Her Instagram bio states that she is the Head of Physical Education at DGC, Gurgaon. Many Indian kabaddi lovers will know that Dabas has been awarded with Padma Shri and Dronacharya awards.
In a recent Instagram post, Dabas wrote that she has been coaching players for the Sports Authority of India in Gujarat. She has even been a part of the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Selection Committee.
Like Sunil Dabas, Neeta Dadoi was also a successful kabaddi player. She is an Arjuna Award winner, and her experience should help the Indian team perform better.
Not much is known about the third coach, Satyawanthi.
