AEW All In is just under two months away at the time of writing and has already been breaking records and predictions all over the world. But which former champion would want to get into the Guinness Book of Records at Wembley Stadium?
The answer is AEW Tag Team Champion Anthony Bowens, who, along with Max Custer and Billy Gunn, became one of the most popular stars in All Elite Wrestling as part of The Acclaimed.
In typical wrestling style, The Acclaimed naturally won over the crowd with a combination of high-quality wrestling, killer promotions, and an all-time-great tagline that might be the most uttered in AEW history, “Scissor Me Daddy A**.”
Anthony Bowens has long encouraged the All Elite Wrestling fan base to “scissors” each other at events as a kind gesture. But he wants AEW All In to be the biggest gesture of its kind so he took to Twitter to announce his intent to set a world record by pulling off the “largest collegiate scissors” in history.
“Hey UK, maybe we should put the Guinness Book of Records for largest group scissors?” tweeted Bowens.
according to WrestleTix, the AEW All In is just shy of passing the 75,000 tickets sold mark, which would surely make it the biggest collegiate clipper ever recorded if Bowens succeeds in his mission. But could this number rise before August 27? Only time will tell!
What other records has AEW All In already broken?
It seemed crazy not long ago to even think that any wrestling promotion, other than WWE, could sell upwards of 70,000 tickets to an event. In fact, it seemed hard to think that any company could sell even half that amount, but AEW All In shattered all expectations.
The show is already the second-largest paid wrestling event in history, according to Dave Meltzer of Observer WrestlingAnd With revenue from the show exceeding $8.3 million. The only event with a number higher than that is WWE WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
Elsewhere, the show also aims to be the most attended wrestling event in UK history. AEW All In is currently second to WWE Summerslam 1992, but since there are still over 12,000 seats available to be filled, it’s possible we could see that record broken as well.
