The city has seen 5 mm of rain since Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast additional rains in the coming days in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Delhi residents woke up to another rainy morning, as the minimum temperature settled at 26.5 degrees Celsius, just below the seasonal average, the weather department said.

Parts of Delhi experienced light to moderate rains, which led to waterlogging and traffic congestion in various areas. The city has seen 5 mm of rain since Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast additional rains in the coming days in Delhi and surrounding areas.

The maximum temperature for Thursday is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the general air quality index (AQI) at 9 a.m. was 81, classifying it as “satisfactory.” An air quality index ranging from 0 to 50 is considered “good”, 51 to 100 as “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 as “fair”, 201 to 300 as “poor”, 301 to 400 as “very bad”, and 401 to 500 as “severe”. The relative humidity at 8:30 a.m. was recorded at 83 percent, reports the IMD bulletin.

What’s up with monsoon in other cities

Other parts of India have also seen heavy monsoon rains recently, with IMD issuing alerts in some cities.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Maharashtra state after moderate to heavy rains fell on the city overnight and more rains are expected on Thursday.

An official from Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said some bus routes were diverted in Sion due to waterlogging around 4.45 am.

Parts of Kerala were also hit by heavy rains which led to floods in many areas. Kakad river was flooding Thursday with its waters which entered residential areas in Kannur city after heavy rains.

Temporary barriers have been put in place to prevent people from using the flooded roads.

Some residential areas in Kottayam city have also been flooded after the incessant rains and the central Kodur River is about to overflow. IMD issued a yellow alert for the region today.
