UFC President Dana White believes the highly anticipated rematch between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, which is set to headline UFC 291 in July, encapsulates the essence of the BMF (Baddest Motherf***er) title.
White recently revealed this exciting match for the promotion’s return to Salt Lake City, Utah on July 29, revealing that the decision to put the “gimmick” title on the line stemmed from a recent matchmaking meeting.
During the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference, the organization’s chief executives said:
“It was a war room. Every Tuesday we were there, and as we put this card together in Utah we thought Poirier and Gaethje is a great fight. Masvidal retired, so we put the BMF title on the line.”
