NFL players rarely say publicly that their teammates aren’t good, and for Detroit Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs, he revealed his love for quarterback Jared Goff.
In a stellar season in Detroit, Goff earned a Pro Bowl nod as Detroit nearly reached the postseason on the back of a 9-8 record.
As for Jacobs, with all of Goff’s exploits last season and with his progress this season, he said Goff is the top five quarterback in the NFC.

Of course, this caused the ears of NFL fans on Reddit to prick up, with one fan saying that the only reason Goff is a top five quarterback is because the NFC is trash now:
“That’s because most nfc qbs are a** lol.”
Other fans shared their thoughts on Jacobs’ comments on Jared Goff being one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC.
So, most seem to have different feelings about Jacobs’ thoughts on Goff. With the current state of the NFC, maybe, just maybe, Goff and the Lions can do some damage next season.
Jared Goff and the Lions on track to make the playoffs next season?
Having been one game away from reaching the postseason last year with a 9-8 record, the Lions under Goff will undoubtedly have expectations of doing better in 2023.
Of course, a lot of that depends on the improvement from last season through to this year.
Jared Goff threw for 4,438 yards, 29 touchdowns and just seven interceptions last season, and one would think he’d need to bottom line again if Detroit wants to make the postseason.
The addition of running back Jahmyr Gibbs across the draft will help the Lions run after seeing D’Andre Swift move to Philadelphia.
Jove has weapons at his disposal. Besides Gibbs, there’s also Amon Ra St. Brown, Marvin Jones, Jameson Williams (after serving a six-match ban), Josh Reynolds and running back Craig Reynolds.
There is a lot for Jared Goff and trainer Dan Campbell to work with. If Goff can replicate or improve on his efforts in 2022 and lead the Lions to the playoffs, he could seal his spot in the NFC’s top five quarterbacks next season.
