An employee of the Ludhiana district public relations office died in an accident near Sahniwal on Friday, while two others were seriously injured.
The victim has been identified as Prabjot Singh, 41, from Khanna, who was working as a driver at the DPRO office. He was on his way from Khanna to Ludhiana and was accompanied by his two friends in a Volkswagen Polo.
Upon arriving in Sunnywall, they pull over at the side of the road to fix the car’s bumper. While they are fixing the bumper, a small speeding bolero hits their car and runs over the trio, who were standing on the side of the road.
After the accident, the truck driver ran away, leaving the car on the spot. The police took the victims to the hospital where the doctors declared Prabhjot dead, while the condition of his two friends was serious.
An FIR was registered against the unknown driver of the small vehicle.
Punjab’s Information and Public Relations Minister Chetan Singh Gormajra expressed his sorrow over the death of Prabhjot.
