On Thursday night, Spears took to social media to offer her side of the story. She states that she saw Wimpanyama and reached out to him because she wanted to congratulate him on his success after finishing first overall in the NBA Draft.

“I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was very loud, so I patted him on the shoulder…and secured him and then handed me back in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Down and causing my glasses to fly off my face.”

This week, Victor Wimpanyama should have focused on preparing for his Summer League debut. Instead, he was now thrown into the middle of this incident.

Since it was a matter of his own security, he was forced to answer questions about what happened. He didn’t see what happened because Spears was behind him, but he did mention that he felt someone grab him.

“This person grabbed me from behind. I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and was told don’t stop. I just know security pushed her away.”
