Amid looming questions about the survival of the National Congress Party (NCP) after that Ajit Pawar split the party Cooperating with the Shinde-BJP government, NCP Chairman Sharad Pawar confirmed on Saturday that he was “neither tired nor retired”.

During his press conference before Gathering in YolaPawar Sr. echoed former Prime Minister and late BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s “Na tired ho, na retired (I am neither tired nor retired)”.

Pawar said, “Do you know at what age Morarji Desai became prime minister?… I don’t want to become prime minister or minister, but I just want to serve the people.”

The statement comes days after the appointment of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar took swipes at his uncleindicating that it was time to make room for the young blood.

A week after Ajit and eight other ANCs joined the Eknath Shinde-led ministry in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar kicks off his statewide tour by organizing a rally on Saturday in Yola in Nashik district, the constituency of rebel party leader and minister Chajan Bhojbal.

Pawar also announced that he will hold rallies outside Maharashtra as well.

Answer a question about Praful Patil’s claims that Supriya Soli became the fulcrum Of all his (Sharad Pawar) actions, and that he imposed his decision on everyone, the NCP chief said that on many occasions he wronged Supriya.

Even as he agreed that there were ongoing discussions with the BJP, Pawar claimed that no decision had been taken to cooperate with the BJP. He said, “In politics, we need to conduct dialogues with the different parties, but this does not mean that we form an alliance with them.”

Pawar further asserted that all rebel MLAs would lose the elections.

Pawar told reporters that it appeared to be a systematic plan by the Bharatiya Janata Party to weaken the opposition parties in the country. But, he added, “I don’t consider anyone an enemy in politics. There may be ideological differences between two parties, but I don’t consider them enemies.”
