A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation said that the 112 police helpline received a false threat at around 9pm on Friday and warned that the metro station would be targeted at 11.48pm.
Security has been tightened and a bomb disposal squad has been deployed at Hazratganj metro station in Lucknow, responding to a phone call reporting a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax, officials said Saturday.
A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation said the police helpline 112 received a false threat at around 9pm on Friday and warned that the metro station would be targeted at 11.48pm.
Immediately upon receiving the call, the police alerted the metro security and the bomb disposal squad arrived at the Hazratganj metro station, the official said, adding that the station premises were thoroughly searched and declared safe at around 12 midnight.
But metro services remained normal, and the last train was around 10 p.m., he said.
Later, the threatening call turned out to be a hoax, the official said.
