The girl had passed away on May 25 after accusing six men of molesting her, which led to a case being registered at Nattiran Police Station and the arrest of one of them named Sudeep Dhakad.

A man ended his life two months after his daughter committed suicide over sexual harassment in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh state, and one of the accused was released, after which state home minister Narottam Mishra ordered an investigation on Saturday. The girl died on May 25 after six men were accused of molesting her, which led to a case being registered at Nathiran Police Station and the arrest of one of them, Sudeep Dhakad, said Vidisha Kotwali Police Station official Ashutosh Singh.

The official said her father killed himself on Thursday, after which an instigation of suicide case against six people was registered at Vidisha Kotwali Police Station. Home Minister Mishra said that when the girl complained about sexual harassment, a case was registered under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or use of criminal force against any woman, with intent to offend her modesty) and summonses were issued.

Mishra said that later when the girl ended her life, an abetment of suicide case was registered under IPC Section 306 and Sudeep Dhakad was arrested. He said that the girl’s father ended his life after the accused was released from prison.

The Deputy Inspector General, a rank police officer, will investigate the incident and submit a report within three days. “Actions will be taken according to this report,” he said. The minister informed that two people had been arrested in connection with the death of the father, and the in charge of the Natiran Police Station and the police chief had been dismissed from the field service.
