Barca are said to be considering selling Rafina just one year after arriving at the Camp Nou.
Fichajes reports that the Blaugrana are considering putting the Brazilian striker on the transfer list as he could command a decent fee. Arsenal and Chelsea have been named as two teams likely to move in for the 26-year-old.
Rafinha joined Barcelona from Leeds United last summer for €58m and was considered one of the best wingers in Europe at the time. He managed 10 goals and 12 assists in 50 matches across competitions in his first campaign at the Camp Nou.
However, Rafinha was not always a regular starter under Xavi and reportedly did not impress the Spanish coach. The Brazilian secured a steady starting role in the second half of the season after Ousmane Dembele was injured.
Xavi reportedly views Dembele as an undisputed starter for Barcelona, casting doubt on Rafinha’s role in the side. He prefers playing on the right wing which is also the position adopted by the French striker.
A return to the Premier League could be on the table for Rafinha as Arsenal and Chelsea both missed out on his signing last summer. The Brazil international chose to join the Catalan giants over his London rivals.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Barcelona were interested in signing youngster Romeo Lavea from Southampton. It seems that the Blaugrana are ready to make more additions to their midfield after the arrest of free agent Ilkay Gundogan.
However, the Saints’ £50m (€58.5m) valuation of Lavia put Barcelona out of a potential move for the Belgium midfielder. He has become a prime target for Liverpool while Arsenal and Chelsea also keep tabs.
Lafia shone in Saint Mary’s last season despite his team being relegated to the Premier League Championship. He participated in 34 matches across competitions, where he participated with two goals, and was a rock in the center of the midfield.
The energetic midfielder is clearly on the radar of many of the top Premier League clubs. However, a move to Barcelona is not possible due to the financial complications of the Catalan giants.
A move for the former Southampton midfielder, Oriol Romeu, seems more likely to Barcelona. However, his current club Girona is said to be demanding €8m for his signature which Xavi’s side are unwilling to pay upfront, according to Diario AS.
