The government plans to bring about a change in the new pension system.
The Department of Pensions Affairs has been conducting awareness programs for retirees via the Internet as well as through interactive meetings to distribute information.
Senior officials of the Department of Pensions and Pension Welfare (DoPPW) of the unionized personnel department conducted an outreach program with an association for retirees here with the aim of enhancing their ease of living, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
The Department of Pensions conducts awareness programs for retirees both online and through interactive meetings to distribute information and also to understand the problems faced by retirees as well as to consider any suggestions they may refer.
As part of the DoPPW’s outreach program, meetings with these associations, online as well as physically, are held at regular intervals, according to the statement issued by the Ministry of Personnel.
One such meeting took place with Bharat Pensioners’ Samaj, a registered pensioners’ association, where V Srinivas, Secretary (DoPPW), Sanjiv Narain Mathur, Additional Secretary, visited DoPPW and other department officials from the association’s office in Gangpura, Delhi on July 7, she said.
During the interaction, the Secretary (DoPPW) briefed the members of the association on the various initiatives taken by the department including the development of an integrated portal for retirees to provide pension-related information to retirees from a single portal, Adalats Pensions nationwide. The various policies that have been put in place for the benefit of pensioners, such as the pension for widowed, unmarried and divorced daughters, were also discussed.
The statement stated that the Department of Pensions and Retirement Care has taken a number of initiatives to increase the well-being of retirees with the aim of enhancing their “ease of living”.
She added, “It has been a constant endeavor to take steps to reach out to all retirees through various methods and spread awareness about DoPPW initiatives, thus enabling all retirees to use the benefits allocated to them.”
Maheshwari, general secretary of Bharat Pensioners’ Samaj, shared the association’s best practices which included maintaining a directory of members, disseminating information and interacting with members through WhatsApp groups, newsletters, the association’s website and various social media platforms, according to the statement. .
Provide detailed information about the various activities undertaken by the association and confirm full support and participation in all DoPPW initiatives including the proposed nationwide Digital Living Certificate campaign.
The members of the association also provided their observations regarding the nature of pension complaints they had received, and a discussion was held to initiate steps to ensure that issues that generate such grievances do not occur.
