Novak Djokovic said he had “nothing to complain about” after questions regarding the 2023 Wimbledon Championships schedule were asked during his press conference.
Djokovic played the last match of the day Friday at Wimbledon, winning in the third round against Stan Wawrinka, 6-3, 6-1, 7-6(5). This was just in time so you wouldn’t have to reschedule it on Saturday.
This scenario could have happened as playing at Wimbledon after 11pm is not allowed due to local laws. The Serb has not seen a problem with the schedule, saying he is satisfied with everything so far at Wimbledon 2023.
“It’s neither the first nor the last time I’ve played a match so late and there’s no reason to worry because it ended so late. I’m glad I even managed to finish it at the same time,” Novak Djokovic told Serbian journalists.
Djokovic has finished all of his matches on time so far. He defeated Pedro Cashin, 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(4), in the first round on Monday, Jordan Thompson, 6-3, 7-6(4), 7-5, in the second round on Tuesday, and Stan Wawrinka is in the third round on Friday.
Several other players did not have this privilege due to severe rain delays, with Djokovic being sympathetic to them due to the circumstance.
“I am certainly in a better position than most players (at Wimbledon), especially those on the other side of the draw, now, due to circumstances, have to play on consecutive days,” the 36-year-old said.
