The complaint alleged that Singh’s post on Golwalkar’s Facebook had harmed the religious beliefs of the Sangh workers and the entire Hindu community.
Indore Police has registered a case against Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh for allegedly sharing a controversial post on social media, former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief MS Golwalkar, an official said Sunday.
Following a complaint filed by local Advocate and RSS operator Rajesh Joshi, the FIR was registered on Saturday night against Singh under Sections 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth and residence), 469 (Falsification with intent to damage reputation) ), 500 (defamation) and 505 (statements that cause public harm), the official at Tokugan Police Station said.
In his complaint, Joshi alleged that Singh shared a controversial Facebook poster with the name and image of “Guruji” (as Golwalkar was popularly called) to incite people by stirring up conflict between Dalits, backward castes, Muslims and Hindus, according to the FIR.
The complaint alleged that Singh’s post on Golwalkar’s Facebook had harmed the religious beliefs of the Sangh workers and the entire Hindu community, according to FIR recorded by the police here in Madhya Pradesh.
In a statement sent to the media, a local Sangh official alleged that Singh had made a “false and unwarranted post” about Golwalkar on social media to tarnish the organization’s image.

Golwalkar was quoted as saying that he would rather live under British rule than give equal rights to Dalits, backwards and Muslims. Some other controversial comments have also been attributed to him.
Following this post, a senior RSS employee and its head of publicity, Sunil Ambikar, accused the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh of posting a “photoshopped” image.
He said that this is unfounded and aims to cause social disharmony, adding that “Kruje” had never made such statements before.
He added that his life was spent removing social discrimination.
Golwalkar was the longest serving head of the RSS and was at the helm of the organization from 1940-1973.
