What is common between actors Vidya Balan, Shilpa Shetty and Malaika Arora? They all grew up in Chembur, Mumbai. Vidya revealed how the suburb of central Mumbai has produced “a lot of hotties”, including Bollywood stars.
In an interview with Curly Tales, Vidya talks about her life in Chembur, where she spent 31 years. The 44-year-old actress revealed how she studied at St. Anthony’s Girls High School, where Shilpa was three years her senior.
“Shilpa Shetty was two years older than me. She was always hot. I remember she was also a basketball player and one day my mother decided that I should play basketball. At 6 in the morning I was sent to play basketball and there was already rumblings that Shilpa might join the movies. She was cute.” Very, and I’ll never forget it, you taught me how to dribble. Now I thought I knew everything and said to my mom, “You’ve learned, you don’t have to go early tomorrow morning.”
In the interview, Vidya also talks about Malaika and said that she will be moving her home to her classrooms – and all the boys will be waiting for her. “There was also Malaika Arora. She was from another school, but she was walking down the aisle at a certain time for her French education, which was on my track, and all the boys were sitting at the time, waiting for Malika to pass! Only Chembur produced so many hotties, What are you doing!” she added.
On the work front, Vidya is currently seen in Niyyat, marking her post-pandemic return to theaters, following her successful OTT stint with three blockbuster films – Shakuntala Devi, Cherni and Jalsa.
