Nick Wright just went out there and did it! He picks the Cowboys and downplays the Eagles and Ninety-one as the two best players to make the NFC Super Bowl.

Speaking with Colin Coward, he made it clear that he worried if Jalen Hurts could maintain the same standards as last year. It also highlighted how difficult it is to come back to back-to-back Super Bowls.

“I feel like 98% of people in our industry would choose, when it comes to choosing when to Super Bowl, we’re going to come out of the NFC or the Eagles or the Niners. Almost everyone is going to choose those two. The question I have is this — if it’s not one of those two people, who is it? Because I think the Eagles are good. But I also think with playing the best year of Jalen Hurts’ entire career we just had… It’s hard going to back-to-back Super Bowls.”

His concern with the 49ers was putting them in the middle with both Brock Purdy and Trey Lance battling it out. Last year it finally proved to be a slump in the NFC Championship Game. Nick Wright added,

“So if the Eagles aren’t there, and the Niners’ quarterback is in a state of flux like anyone, who’s going to win the NFC title? You just go through it.”

Then he said that the words he himself confessed might be regretted by him,

“I will instantly regret it and hate myself for it but I think I might believe in the cowboys this year.”

Nick Wright dismisses pretty much every team except the Cowboys, Eagles, and 49ers in the NFC

Nick Wright had his reasons for choosing the Cowboys. Aside from the 49ers, he didn’t think anyone was competitive in the NFC West.

“NFC West, the Cardinals don’t try. The Rams I think they’re going to be terrible. They’re not a Super Bowl team. Seahawks, are we going to get that from Geno again? And there’s the Niners like we said.”

He also dismissed the NFC South entirely, never putting much faith in the likes of Baker Mayfield, Andy Dalton and Derek Carr to turn around their flagging fortunes. He also said that the NFC North doesn’t look very strong with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions being potential spoilers. He said,

“No one in the NFC South… NFC North, is it Kirk Cousins? Is it Jared Goff? We’ll put Jared Goff in there? Then we’ll get to the NFC East. If he’s not, then maybe that means it’ll be the Niners and Eagles again, but usually This isn’t chalky…so I don’t know.”

There is not much to argue against what he said there. But the teams hope that the form on paper will be different from the form in the field. We’ll eventually know where they really stand at the end of the season.
