Police said the girl had been taking lessons at the defendants’ lessons for the past 15 days with other students who were not present at the time of the incident.
Police said Sunday that a 30-year-old education teacher has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at his home in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar district.
They added that the incident occurred on Saturday when the minor girl went to take lessons at his home.
When he found the girl alone, he allegedly sexually assaulted her. Amrutha Gogoluth, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), said that after returning home, the girl related the incident to her parents, who informed the police around 7 pm.
Gogoluth said the minor has been sent for consultation and medical examination.
Police said the girl had been taking lessons at the defendants’ lessons for the past 15 days with other students who were not present at the time of the incident.
Based on the complaint, the education teacher has been booked under section 354(b) (assault or use of criminal force with intent to strip clothing) of the Indian Penal Code and section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Children’s Sexual Offenses Protection Act, the DCP said.
She added that the accused was arrested and investigations are still ongoing.
