ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Tribunal on Monday extended the temporary bail of former Prime Minister W Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan ARY News reported that (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is in three cases.
The court released Khan on bail in three cases registered against him at Kahna and Bhara Kahu police stations.
While extending the former prime minister’s temporary bail, the court ordered the police to launch a transparent investigation, ordering that the delay should not be tolerated at any cost.
“We do not support the accused nor the prosecution, but the investigation must be conducted in a transparent manner,” Ari News quoted the judge as saying.
Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore had issued non-bailable arrest warrants to the head of the movement and other party leaders in two arson cases.
ICC Judge Abhar Gul Khan has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the head of the PTI movement and other party leaders including Mian Islam IqbalHamad Azhar Jamshed Iqbal CheemaMasarat Jamshid Cheema and Hassanullah Niyazi.
The arrest warrants were issued due to their continued absence from the hearings in the two arson cases – 23/366 (Madina Model Police Station) and 23/1078 (Naseerabad Police Station), ARY News reports.
It is worth mentioning here that the head of PTI was facing more than 100 cases on various charges in the country.
Earlier on July 6, Khan had accused his political opponents of being “out to kill him” and added that he would remain in Pakistan and contest all court cases despite his overseas well-wishers urging him to leave the country.
On July 3, Imran Khan criticized the government of Shehbaz Sharif, and claimed that the administration had “made a plan” to put him in jail and that the whole incident that happened regarding his arrest was “pre-planned”.
Addressing the nation, former Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “I want the nation to know how a plan was made to arrest me on the basis of baseless and false cases. A lawyer was murdered in Quetta and without any investigation and proof, Shahbaz Sharif.” The counselor comes on TV on the same day and says the murder was committed by Imran Khan and then shows the video to the widow of the same lawyer who did it.”
On May 9, former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan was arrested inside the Islamabad High Court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on corruption charges in relation to the Al-Qadir Trust, which he owns alongside his wife Bushra Bibi. .
After Khan’s arrest, his party called for demonstrations that turned violent in many places. The administration resorted to repression and many people were arrested across the country. Persons accused of committing the May 9 violence are being tried by military courts.
