There is probably no song that quite lives up to its name The song “Breathless” by Shankar Mahadev. The fast-paced song, over the years, It has inspired numerous covers and releases.
Recently, the cover of “Breathless” sung by Ijaz Haider, a singer with more than 1.6 Instagram followers, went viral with more than 2 million likes.
Commenting on Haider’s video, one Instagram user wrote, “Dude increased atmospheric oxygen level by 4.99 percent. Cheers.” The comments section was filled with GIFs that popped in rhythm with Haider singing. “All the gifs in the comments are epic! 💫” one Instagram user wrote.
Last year, in August, Swaraag Keerthan’s ‘Breathless’ during a reality TV show called Sridevi Drama Company garnered millions of likes. The show was broadcast on ETV Telugu. Similarly, in April 2020, Mumbai-based artist Swetha Anandasivan played the melody of “Breathless” on the violin. The Carnatic fiddler’s cover also impressed many people online.
“Breatheless” was released in 1998 as part of Mahadevan’s indie-pop album of the same name. Mahadevan presented the album in collaboration with Famous poet Javed Akhtar. It won Best Non-Film Album at the 1998 Screen Awards.
