Expected a napaLeon It’s finally received a trailer that gives a glimpse into carefully crafted 18th-century France and its brilliant emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte (played by the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix). This Ridley Scott epic seems to be in the vein of some of the director’s best work such as wrestler And Blade Runner With highly crafted visuals and perfect scenery.
However, the Apple TV+ movie was reportedly not as focused on the character as it is now. Director Ridley Scott previously revealed that Joaquin Phoenix was one of the main reasons for this big change as he constantly tried to mess with one of the greatest characters in history, slowly leading to a character-focused film with Phoenix leading the way with his portrayal.
Talking to empire In an old interview, director Ridley Scott admitted that it was very difficult to film with Phoenix, who wanted every bit of perfection in the characters he played. Scott said:
“Joaquin is as far from imitative as you can get. Not on purpose, but out of intuition. It’s what makes him tick. If something bothers him, he’ll let you know. He made (Napoleon) special by constant questioning. With Joaquin, we can rewrite Damned movie because it’s uncomfortable. And that kind of happened with Napoleon. We scrapped the movie to help him focus on who Bonaparte was. I had to respect that, because what was said was incredibly constructive. It all grows bigger and better.”
He further added:
“With Napoleon, I think we went deep and found the character, or as close as he could be. Joaquin is probably the most unique and thoughtful actor I’ve ever worked with.”
Napoleon It is scheduled for release on November 22, 2023, with a premiere date set at a later date for Apple TV+.
