The New York Yankees’ search for a new hitting coach lasted one day and ended with former MLB analyst Sean Casey joining the team.
According to the New York Post, he’ll take on the role this season and see if the future wants to try it out. The Yankees fired Dillon Lawson on the last day of the first inning.
The Yankees have named Sean Casey their new hitting coach, which means it’s the perfect time to share video of when he was sacked at first on a left field base hit.

Sean Casey has worked for the MLB network for the past 14 years since he began his career in media in 2009. If this opportunity is missed, it is speculated that he may return to network television.
Not only is Sean Casey a former MLB analyst (which is befitting of Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who was an ESPN analyst when the team hired him in 2017), but he’s also a former player.
He was a longtime member of the Cincinnati Reds, where he was a teammate of Aaron Boone for several seasons.
During his career, he was a three-time All-Star, had a .302 batting average and an OPS+109. He clearly knew how to hit at the MLB level.
Plus I always give Jersey guys the benefit of the doubt (yeah I know I’m biased)
Let’s see what you can do Sean!!
If this is the mentality Sean Casey brings to the club, I’m excited. Plus I always give Jersey guys the benefit of the doubt (yeah I know I’m biased) Let’s see what you can do Sean!!https://t.co/WJvYSSKuSN
Casey hopes to get a struggling All-Star back on the right track. Without Aaron Judge, stars Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson, and DJ Limahie are stuck and look like shells. That’s partly why the Yankees shot the season – Brian Cashman’s first tenure.
