India captain Rohit Sharma has confirmed that Shubman Gill will bat at number three in the first Test against the West Indies, which starts in Dominica on Wednesday, July 12. The arrangement means opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will get his Test debut – the same as confirmed by Rohit.
In KL Rahul’s absence, Gill opened the roles with Rohit and also tasted success. However, the Indian captain revealed that the batsman himself approached coach Rahul Dravid and requested that he be sent to bat in a one-down stand.

The Indian captain assured that the arrangement works well as the visitors can get an opening combination left and right into Rohit-Jaiswal. He said:
“It’s good for us too because we’re getting a left-to-right opening combination. Hopefully this works for a long time because we’ve been desperately needing a left-hander for a long time. We’ve got one and hopefully he (Jaiswal) does well for the team and can make this place king.” for him “.
On the bowling mix, Rohit admitted that they are likely to bowl two spinners. He said:

“They’ve put up solid yards in domestic cricket and they’ve been rewarded for it. All these guys have been on the radar. I’m glad they managed to make it happen. Jaiswal looks very promising, as well as Ruturaj and Gill. Gill has clearly been playing fine cricket for a year.” Now. Rohit concluded:
