Chelsea’s Fernandes has opened up about fulfilling his dream of playing for Lionel Messi.

The midfielder had a memorable first half of the 2022-23 season, making a stark impression at SL Benfica and winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

Fernández scored three goals and five assists in 24 appearances across competitions for Benfica before being selected by Not albiceleste to represent them in Qatar.

Fernandes’ exploits in the 2022 FIFA World Cup saw him earn a British record £106.8m for Chelsea in January. Since then he has played three more times alongside the former Barcelona star in Argentine colours.
