Destiny 2 has been receiving a lot of criticism lately. From constantly crashing servers to the massive presence of cheaters in the game, a lot has gone wrong since Lightfall started. However, one of the primary complaints about Bungie’s first-person shooter is the way the expansion and seasonal stories have been implemented.
Since the launch of Lightfall, Bungie has been having a difficult time regarding story delivery in Destiny 2. Not only was the campaign rushed, but it also didn’t provide enough information about the Veil, which was believed to be an artifact of mystical proportions.
Fast forward to Season of the Deep, and Bungie has resorted to revealing major plot points through audio logs. This is something the game community doesn’t like at all.
Destiny 2 players are upset with the way the current seasonal story is being handled
Although Destiny 2 audio logs have been around for a while now, they’ve never been used to reveal key details about the game’s lore.
While a lot of gamers would love to know the lore, they don’t really listen to these audio logs. The fact that Bungie is pushing it like this has caused many to be unhappy.
While some did not know that these audio logs were weekly, others were unaware that these logs existed in the first place.
There are some individuals who knew about this, but didn’t even bother checking in because they thought it was a boring way to tell a story. This is especially the case when it’s about the Veil, which also happens to be a major factor in the ongoing Light vs Darkness saga in Destiny 2.
The way Bungie has handled Destiny 2 Lightfall is kind of weird. The campaign felt very rushed. On top of that, the entire expansion felt like a filler episode of an anime series. What’s worse is that the developer has been hyping The Witness for a long time but not giving it enough time in the story.
Furthermore, the end of the campaign felt underwhelming. The veil is such an important thing to miss, but the repercussions of darkness and witness after its use are yet to be felt.
However, all hope is not lost. Bungie has been known to learn from its mistakes. If this is a content delivery model the developer has been working on, there are many ways to improve and implement it.
Hopefully, by the time The Final Shape premieres, Bungie will have sorted things out. If not, Seol’s future would look very bleak.
