PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) is said to be willing to pay 100 million euros to beat Bayern Munich to sign Harry Kane.
According to RMC Sport, the Parisians have set their sights on the Tottenham Hotspur striker amid uncertainty over Kylian Mbappe’s future. The Ligue 1 champions have reportedly held talks with Kane and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
However, PSG has reportedly not yet reached an agreement with the England attacking captain. A new meeting between all sides is set for next week as the French giants look to award the 29-year-old away from north London.
Kane is also on Bayern’s radar, and has made the striker his priority at the Allianz Arena. However, the Bavarians failed in two bids, the second worth 80 million euros.
The England captain is expected to earn a salary of €12m a year if he picks the Bundesliga champions. However, PSG could bid on that and also offer Tottenham €100m for their replacement striker.
Kane was at his best last season, scoring 32 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions. He has always been seen as one of the best strikers in Europe as he not only scores a lot of goals but also brings his teammates to play.
The England striker only has a year left on his contract, but the European giants are pushing for his signature this summer. The lure of winning trophies tempts the striker to leave Tottenham.
Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino trained both Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain and Kane at Tottenham, and the duo were in good shape under the Argentine coach.
The new Blues manager compared the playing styles of both strikers during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar (via football.london):
Harry is a person Do Need to feel connected to the game. But Killian is the opposite.
“If he doesn’t touch the ball, he’s laid back. He’s very confident. He knows when the ball gets to him, he’ll still beat his opponent and do what he knows best.”
That rating is well-deserved given Kane’s insistence on stepping back to help his side through the transition while Mbappe sits and waits for the game to come to him. Both have impressed under Pochettino during their spells with the Argentine.
Mbappe, 24, scored 67 goals and 34 assists in 75 matches under the leadership of Pochettino at the Parc des Princes, while Kane scored 169 goals and 30 assists in 242 matches under the leadership of the former Tottenham coach.
