In the heart of Nizamabad district, Telangana, snake catcher Munna has made a name for himself not only in his native Nandipt Mandal, but all over the region.

Besides running a local auto service center for a living, he is known as a reliable and passionate snake rescuer in the area, always a phone call away saving both people and snakes.

When a snake is reported, Munna immediately arrives at the scene. He handles creatures with skill, an art learned during an intense period of training.

He captures the snakes in a glass jar, transports them safely and releases them to nearby woodland areas, ensuring their survival while protecting the local community.

Munna’s commitment to saving snakes began after witnessing a friend’s snakebite incident. According to Mona, the key to avoiding harm is understanding the defensive behavior of snakes.

“If the snake feels any harm from other living things, it reacts in self-defense. One must remain calm and compassionate when confronted with a snake.”

In his career as a snake catcher, Munna caught around 2,000 snakes, helping hundreds of people in the process. It responds to an average of two snake reports per day.

Despite the danger inherent in his service, Munna focuses more on general education and survival tips than any potential financial gain.

His advice to snakebite victims is clear: Don’t panic. He suggests washing the bite area with soap and water, tying it tightly with a cloth, and seeking medical help within the hour.

Most deaths from snake bites are caused by fear. I once got a call about a snake bite, only to find out the person had been bitten by a rat,” he said.

MONA’s services extend far beyond immediate rescue. He is not motivated by monetary rewards, and often accepts only enough to cover petrol costs, while at other times he offers his life-saving work for free.

His philosophy is simple yet profound, reflecting his deep respect for all forms of life. “Every living creature has the right to survive on Earth. Snakes have the right to coexist with us,” Munna asserts with a warm, reassuring smile.
