Gurgaon Police on Wednesday said that it has made security arrangements to facilitate the Kanwar Yatra by deploying maximum police force in all the police stations.

According to the police, they have marked “public/sensitive places”, accident prone areas and places prone to criminal activity, proper police force has been deployed and special security measures have been arranged in view of the annual pilgrimage of Shiva devotees.

“Police will also avoid accidents and traffic closures when Kanwar Yatris plays music with DJs on vehicles during their journey by interacting with them and directing them to move without causing disturbance,” Gurgaon Police said in a statement.

“During this lytra, people of harmful elements and criminal tendencies are actively looking for an opportunity to carry out any unwanted incident, so for special monitoring, plainclothes police will monitor these ways to maintain the dignity of religious sentiments to avoid communal activities,” the statement added.

Also, keeping in mind the number of Kanwar Yetris, a separate police force has been deployed to make the roads easy and safe and to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic in a systematic manner.

To avoid traffic jams, Gurgaon Police has arranged parking at a distance from the main road. Kanwar Yetris camps were also established.

Police have set up reflective barriers on the roads and officials have been required to wear reflective vests to ensure a police presence at night. The police team of Kanwar Siva camps also made proper arrangement for the lights.
