The police blamed the ambulance driver for allegedly speeding through a traffic intersection without checking if he had a signal to do so and cause the accident.
An accident between an ambulance and an escort vehicle of the State Public Education Minister’s Sivankote a day earlier in Kottarakara in Kollam became controversial with the ambulance driver on Thursday claiming that the accident occurred due to negligence and reckless driving of a police jeep.
On the other hand, the police blamed the ambulance driver for allegedly speeding through a traffic intersection without checking if he had a signal to do so and cause the accident.
Meanwhile, an officer at Kottarakara Police Station, in whose jurisdiction the accident occurred on Wednesday, said cases of reckless and reckless driving have been registered against the ambulance driver and the police officer who was behind the wheel of the escort vehicle.
The officer said that the cases were registered based on the statement of the patient’s husband, who was in the ambulance.
The officer said the health of the patient and others who were in the ambulance that overturned in the accident is stable.
He also said that the video footage from the surveillance cameras of the incident clearly shows that the traffic officer briefly stopped traffic to allow the escort vehicle and the minister’s car to pass. “However, the ambulance driver, upon reaching the crossroads, sped through without checking if he had a signal to do so,” the officer said.
The officer also rejected the ambulance driver’s claim to a TV channel that when his brother went to file a complaint about the accident, the police were rude to him and misbehaved.
The officer said that the owner of the ambulance came to the station and watched the CCTV footage to show him who was at fault.
