Apart from the official function at the Martyrs’ Cemetery, ordinary political leaders also used to visit it to pay homage to the 22 fallen Kashmiris shot dead by the Dogra Army while protesting against the tyrannical rule of Maharaja Hari Singh.
For the past few years, political parties have claimed her movement was restricted on the day and she was not allowed to visit the cemetery in the city.
