Earlier, in this morning’s pre-launch tweet, Modi said that the Chandrayaan-3 mission will carry the hopes and dreams of our nation. “Until Chandrayaan-1, the moon was thought to be a very dry, geologically inactive, uninhabitable celestial body while now it is seen as a dynamic, geologically active body with water and ice beneath the surface,” he said. If successful, India will rank fourth in achieving the feature
Chandrayaan-3 will be inserted into the lunar transfer trajectory after orbit lift maneuvers. With the Chandrayaan-3 mission, scientists aim to perfect the soft moon landing, a challenging technical aspect that is scheduled for late August. The successful mission would make India only the fourth country to achieve this rare feat after the United States, China and the former Soviet Union.
Chandrayaan-3 follows the Chandrayaan-2 mission that did not achieve the required soft landing on the moon in 2019, disappointing scientists.
According to ISRO officials, about 16 minutes after liftoff, the thrust module will separate from the rocket and it will circle the Earth for about 5-6 times in an elliptical with 170 km closer and 36,500 km from Earth moving toward the Moon. orbit.
The propulsion unit together with the probe, after gaining speed, will continue for more than a month on a long journey towards reaching lunar orbit until it rises 100 km above the surface of the moon.
