Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Lina Nair, global CEO of Chanel, a French luxury fashion house, in Paris on July 14 and discussed ways to promote handicrafts, khadi and skill development of artisans in India.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a fruitful meeting with @LeenaNairHR, Global CEO of Chanel. They discussed issues related to the promotion of Khadi handicrafts, and skills development of Indian artisans,” said the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, in a tweet.

The Prime Minister called on Chanel to take advantage of opportunities in India and forge partnerships with Indian artisans, artists and farmers. Chanel called for greater collaborations with Indian fashion artists and cultural institutions.
Besides the CEO of Chanel, PM Modi met with senior executives in France to discuss ways to diversify the business collaboration. “I have highlighted reforms in India and urged entrepreneurs to harness the many opportunities that our country has to offer,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Modi and Macron held bilateral talks at the Elysee Palace in Paris and discussed cooperation in nuclear energy, defense and the roadmap for strategic partnership between India and France in the next 25 years.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a two-day state visit, received a warm welcome at the Elysee Palace from French President Macron, after which the two leaders delivered press statements.
Macron said he was happy to see the Indian contingent at the Bastille Day military parade earlier in the day. “I was proud to see the Punjab Regiment here in the heart of Paris (at the Bastille Day parade). We are moving forward based on historical trust. Together we can find solutions to global crises.”
Prime Minister Modi joined French President Macron in the Bastille Day parade as guest of honor with India’s three-service marching band dazzling crowds during the French National Day celebrations. Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) also joined the air for the occasion, along with French jets.
