Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette has shared his thoughts on whether Roman Reigns should receive an Emmy for his portrayal of The Bloodline Storyline.
Last week on WWE SmackDown, the show kicked off with The Tribal Court, which featured Reigns, Paul Heyman, and his cousins The Usos and Solo Sikoa. During the clip, the chief of the table pretended that he was going to make Ji Oso the new clan chief, only to have the latter hit below the belt. He and Sykoa then attacked the former tag team champions at ringside, which resulted in Jimmy being sent to the hospital.
In the latest version of The Jim Cornette ExperienceThe wrestling veteran reviewed the clip and commented on whether Roman Reigns should be getting an Emmy for his amazing acting.
“It’s an affront to what the wrestling business is supposed to do publicly reward anyone for their great acting. But at this point, since WWE isn’t really the wrestling business anymore and the only interesting thing about it is Roman Reigns’ acting – can we at least come up with a category like ‘Best Acting’? On a sports show, “I don’t know,” Cornette said.
Jim Cornette added:
“30 years ago, the (Madison Square Garden) crowd would have set the seats on fire if they got matches on a WWF show that they were on that program and were happy to pay the highest prices in world history to see it.” (From 15:03-16:23)
The Tribal Chief vs. Jey Uso title hasn’t been confirmed for the biggest party of the summer yet, but the two stars are expected to clash at the event.
Last week on SmackDown, on the closing segment, J challenged Roman Reigns while holding the championship.
The two superstars have faced each other in a world title match before at a stellar live event, so this wouldn’t be the first time. At Money in the Bank, Reigns suffered his first loss in over three years. It will be interesting to see if Jey does it again at SummerSlam.
