Former India commentator-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan has accused Kiran More of not selecting a coach for Baroda’s first team because the coach didn’t say ‘hi’ to him.

In an email sent to Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) officials, which was reached by The Indian Express, Pathan said the action and statement made by former Indian wicket-keeper Moore left him ‘very unsettled’.

The Baroda Cricket Association (CAC) Cricket Advisory Committee which has More as its Chairman and Pathan as one of its members recently met to appoint a new coach for the Baroda team. Patan was keen to be a home coach going forward this season and suggested the name of ex-Baroda player Conor Williams for the manager position. However, the CAC did not agree to this.

I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance that was revealed during today’s CAC meeting. I have witnessed with great disappointment a certain incident involving a member of Baroda Cricket which contributes to the downfall of our esteemed institution. Kieran Moore’s actions and statements during the meeting have left me deeply unsettled,” Bataan wrote in a lengthy letter.

It further reads, “Moore’s assertion that he would impede Connor Williams from joining the training setup of the Baroda Ranji team merely for a perceived lack of welcome (“he didn’t say hello to me”) is, in my opinion, absurd and petty justification. This kind of behavior is unbecoming for such a high profile figure as Moore And it reflects badly on the values we uphold as an institution.”

Patan urged that the association should rise above such trivial matters and give priority to the interest of Baroda Cricket. He also wrote, “Williams himself is a Ranji Trophy champion and has dedicated more than a decade of his life to representing Baroda cricket. It is only fitting that we recognize and respect his contributions. Our institution is greater than any individual, and it is essential that we remember this fundamental principle.”

Pathan asked the ‘decision-makers’ of Baroda Cricket to step in and address the issue immediately. “It is essential that we foster an environment of professionalism, respect and fairness within our organisation. Let us not allow personal grievances and petty controversies to derail the progress and unity of Baroda cricket. And all this happened in front of the CEO of Baroda Cricket.”

Bataan and Moore were not available for comment.
