Jenny Kim, a member of the popular girl group Blackpink, recently had a candid conversation with Dua Lipa on BBC Sounds’ “Dua Lipa: At Your Service” podcast. During the interview, Jennie discussed her acting debut and the challenges and pressures she faces as a K-pop star. She has also opened up about feeling like she let her fans down on certain occasions.
Jenny said on the podcast,I was constantly hurting myself during performances and life compared to other girls. It was just a stressful thing in my life. I’m like “Here we go, I fell again. I stumbled again. I feel like I let my fans down at some point in my life where it seemed like I wasn’t trying my best. But I didn’t get a chance to say this, but I didn’t know how to control my body.” And I use my body the way I should. Something like I don’t do well in heels.”
Jennie said she’s still learning about herself and wants to be the one sharing her story with her fans from now on. she added,If anything, let me be the one to share my like, from now on.”
The rapper said that starting her career in Korea as a pop artist restricted many aspects of her. She added that with time she was able to express herself and added that “people You’ll see it as breaking boundaries rather than “she’s doing something she’s not allowed to do.”
BLACKPINK made history as they became the first K-pop group to perform on the main stage at Coachella. Speaking about Coachella and how she cried, Jenny said, “I was under so much pressure, I think it was the first time I ever cried. As soon as I was off stage, I just burst into tears. It was so emotional. I was so proud. And the hard work we put in and the feeling overwhelming.” Which we got from the crowd. It was just too much.”
