Former Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles has responded to Declan Rice’s Instagram post announcing his arrival at the club. The former Arsenal midfielder canceled his contract with the Emirates last season.

At the moment, he is without a team after spending 19 years with Arsenal. Speaking about his time in north London in a recent interview with the club, he said:

“Words can’t describe how I feel to be honest, it’s been a very emotional journey. Having supported the club through my upbringing and promotion, I can only be happy with what I’ve achieved since I’ve been here.”

On the other hand, his England team-mate completed a £100m plus £5m transfer to the Emirates (via Fabrizio Romano). Responding to the 24-year-old’s announcement, Maitland-Niles said:

“All the best brother, you deserve it.”

Rice joins Arsenal after spending 10 long years at West Ham United. He put together a touching video for the Hammers fans and the people at the club on Saturday.

The England international led the team to their first major trophy since 1980 by winning the Europa League last season. Before leaving East London, he made 245 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions.

According to Gabi Agbonlahor, Arsenal need to sign another ball-winning midfielder despite the arrival of Declan Rice. Thomas Partey, who is rumored to have left the club, is believed by the pundit not to be a confirmed player anyway (via Fabrizio Romano).

He says the midfield of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard is good but can improve. Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor said:

“They definitely need another player. Thomas Partey hasn’t been at his best so we don’t know how the season will start, and they need another solid midfielder. A forward.”

The former Aston Villa striker’s suggestion is that the Gunners need another number six. The north London side have been linked with the signing of Romeo Lafia from Southampton in recent weeks (via Fabrizio Romano).

If Arsenal find another defensive midfielder, it could allow the former West Ham captain to take to the field and showcase his attacking qualities.
