The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the killing of a Bharatiya Janata Party activist, has issued a new deadline of August 18 for the accused fugitives in the case to turn themselves in or face confiscation of their property.
Police sources said a public announcement was made in Solea town in this regard in compliance with the directives of the court.
The NIA had earlier set a June 30 deadline and warned that the property and homes of the suspects would be confiscated if they failed to surrender before the agency. None of the defendants had surrendered by that date, but the seizure of their property had not commenced.
The NIA team has already posted copies of the court order on the homes of the fugitive accused in various places including Sulia Taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
