The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has fairly broadly forecast widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rains over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan over the next three days.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Agency has issued ‘orange’ alerts for Odisha, Uttarakhand and eastern Rajasthan from July 17 to 18. The Meetings Department also issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Mumbai with Thane and Palghar from Monday to Thursday (July 20), indicating moderate to heavy rain.

Northwest India
Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience rain on a fairly widespread scale with isolated heavy rains during the next five days. Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan are expected to receive heavy rains with isolated torrential rains over the next three days. Haryana is also likely to see heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected over Uttarakhand and eastern Rajasthan on July 17-18. Scattered thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to continue over the area over the next three days.
East India
Odisha is likely to receive fairly widespread rains with isolated torrential rains over the next five days; Andaman and Nicobar Islands July 18-19. Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive scattered thunderstorms and lightning on July 17.
Central India
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha from July 17 to 18, and Chhattisgarh on July 17. Over the next 5 days, the area is likely to see a fairly widespread light/moderate precipitation with isolated torrential rain. Thunderstorms and lightning.
West India
Goa and Konkan will get heavy to very heavy rain from July 18 to July 21; Ghat areas in Maharashtra from July 18 to July 20; Gujarat from July 19 to July 21. Over the next 5 days, light/moderate to somewhat precipitation was widespread with isolated torrential rains very likely to linger over the area.
Northeast India
Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura have fairly widespread precipitation with isolated torrential rains, thunderstorms and lightning.
South India
Coastal parts of Karnataka will get sporadic to somewhat widespread light/moderate rains with isolated torrential rains from 17th July to 21st July; Telangana from 17 July to 20 June; coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Mahé from July 18 to July 20; and interior parts of Karnataka on July 19 and July 20.
Scattered thunderstorms and lightning are very likely to continue over coastal Andhra Pradesh during July 17-21; Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karikal on July 17.
