In India, people believe that animals like elephants, snakes, and cows are sacred. We often call them Vahans of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Animals are also present in our history and have played important roles. When we see a cow, people often take blessings from them by feeding them food. However, this particular breed, which is mainly found in the arid region of Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, is known to be one of the oldest breeds of cows.

They are called Kankrig cows and they are also called by different names such as Wadad, Wajid, Fagadia, Talabda, Nagar and Bonai depending on the region. They are widely known as Deshwali cows in Jodhpur district. A huge, human-like kankyrig with huge pointed horns in the shape of a lyre. They are usually larger than the normal cows and bulls you see in town.

There are many who claim that it is the oldest endangered species of India. Archaeologists researching the Indus Valley Civilization have found that a relief seal of a bull used as a seal to mark the trade symbol is believed to be Kankrig which has a fixed hump on its back with a bordered forehead and large drooping ears.

Kankrig cows are used to plow farms and produce milk on a dairy farm. It is said that this breed can give around 8 to 10 liters a day which is a huge amount. This breed can also carry a lot of weight on its back.

It is believed that from 1870 onwards, Kankrej Bulls were exported to Brazil where they were used to produce the Gu breed

Consuming the milk of these cattle can help against tick fever, heat and stress, tuberculosis and infectious abortion.
