Police in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh state have registered a case against the former warden of a government girls’ hostel, an official said Monday, after a video of inmates taking a shower surfaced on social media.
Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Bhavya Tripathi said that after an investigation, a crime had been registered against the former warden and the cook at the government-run hostel in Patharia town for their alleged involvement in shooting and posting the video on social media.
She added that the previous warden was suspended, while the cook’s services were terminated, adding that the current warden was also suspended due to violations.
Tripathi, who investigated the incident, said that this action was taken after an investigation committee recorded statements of the girls living in the hostel.
District collector Mayank Agrawal formed an investigation committee after a complaint from the parents of the students living in the hostel.
Meanwhile, Rambai Parihar BSP MLA from Pataria inspected the hostel on Monday and demanded an investigation into the wrongdoing, after which the collector formed a three-member panel.
The collection collector was also ordered to search and investigate all the youth hostels in the area.
